Our commitment in one sentence: We only collect what's needed to send you alerts. No account required. No data sold. Ever.
StormSens.AI (pronounced Storm Sensei) is designed to work with minimal data collection. Here is everything we collect and why:

By default, we do NOT collect your name, email address, phone number, device ID, IP address, browsing history, or any other personal identifying information. We DO encourage you to provide feedback at support@stormsens.ai.
We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with advertisers without your prior express consent. We do not use your data for any purpose other than providing the StormSens.AI service. We do not build profiles. We do not track you across other websites or apps.
A few things worth saying plainly: We will never sell your personal information to anyone, period. If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what data we hold about you, request that we delete it, and opt out of any sale of your data — though we don't sell data, so that last right is mostly academic here. We treat all users the same regardless of whether they exercise these rights. The only time we share your name and email with anyone is when you explicitly ask us to as part of a sponsor consent flow, and even then only with the sponsor you consented to. That's it.
Push notifications are entirely optional. If you choose to enable them, we store the technical information needed to deliver alerts to your device (a push subscription endpoint and encryption keys). This is standard web push notification infrastructure — your device generates these keys, not us.
You can disable push notifications at any time through your device's notification settings. When you do, your push notification subscription data becomes inactive and will be removed from our database.
The app uses your device's GPS to center the weather map and provide location-relevant alerts. This location is processed in your browser and on our server to fetch weather data. If you subscribe to push notifications, a single location coordinate is stored to enable background alerts. This is a general location — think "golf course area" not "exact position on hole 7."
We do not track your location over time or build a location history. Location and safety data are never shared with sponsors under any circumstances.
StormSens.AI uses the following third-party services to deliver the app. Each has its own privacy policy:

StormSens.AI does not use cookies. We use sessionStorage (a standard browser feature) to store your session token temporarily. This data exists only in your browser for the duration of your session and is automatically cleared when you close the tab.
StormSens.AI may be made available for free during certain events. To continue using StormSens.AI after that event at no charge, you may, where available, consent to receive offers from our event sponsor. This option is not guaranteed to be available at all events or at all times. This is entirely optional — you may alternatively subscribe for the then current fee. Your consent covers name and email only. Location and safety data are never shared.
If you choose to provide your name and email and consent to sponsor communications:
If StormSens.AI is presented in partnership with a sponsor outside of the consent flow described above, that sponsor does not receive your data. Sponsor branding is display-only — sponsors have no access to user information, location data, or usage statistics at the individual level.
Push notification subscription data is retained until your subscription expires or becomes inactive. We periodically purge inactive subscriptions. Sponsor consent data (name and email) is retained for 90 days following the relevant event and then permanently deleted. We do not retain any other personal data.
StormSens.AI is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
You have the right to request deletion of any data we hold about you. Since we collect minimal data and don't link it to your identity, the most effective approach is to disable push notifications on your device. To request deletion of sponsor consent data or for any other privacy requests, contact us at the address below and we will respond within 30 days.
We may update this policy to reflect changes in the service or applicable law. We will not make material changes that reduce your privacy protections without notice.
