Storm Sensei is a mobile web application that provides real-time weather data, lightning detection information, and AI-generated safety assessments to help golfers and outdoor sports participants make informed decisions about weather conditions.
The app combines data from third-party sources including the National Weather Service, Vaisala Xweather lightning detection, WeatherFlow Tempest, and NEXRAD radar. It uses artificial intelligence powered by Claude from Anthropic to interpret this data and provide safety recommendations.
Storm Sensei is offered by StormSens.AI LLC, a Delaware limited liability company.
Storm Sensei is NOT a certified emergency alert system, a meteorological service, or a substitute for official weather warnings. It is a supplemental information tool only.
The app depends on third-party data sources that may be delayed, incomplete, or temporarily unavailable. Lightning detection coverage has geographic and temporal limitations. AI-generated assessments may be incorrect.
By using Storm Sensei, you agree to these Terms of Use. We may update these Terms at any time by posting a revised version at stormsens.ai. Your continued use of the app after changes are posted means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, stop using the app. You must be at least 13 years old to use Storm Sensei.
StormSens.AI LLC grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app for your personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not:
BY USING STORM SENSEI, YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT YOU ARE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR SAFETY DECISIONS.
No alert, recommendation, or 'all clear' from this app relieves you of the responsibility to use your own judgment about weather conditions. If you see lightning, hear thunder, or feel unsafe for any reason, seek shelter immediately regardless of what the app says.
The 30-30 rule still applies: if the time between a lightning flash and thunder is 30 seconds or less, you should already be inside. Wait 30 minutes after the last thunder before resuming outdoor activity.
Do not use this app while operating a vehicle, aircraft, or watercraft. Do not make safety decisions for third parties based solely on this app's assessments.
You agree not to use Storm Sensei for any unlawful purpose, to harass others, to transmit malicious code, or to interfere with the app's infrastructure. You agree not to attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of our systems.
Weather is impossible to predict with 100% accuracy. We rely on data obtained from many sources, none of which can guarantee completeness, timeliness or accuracy. Storm Sensei is designed to provide you information so you can make a better judgment about whether to take shelter, but that decision is entirely yours. Storm Sensei cannot guarantee alerts are accurate or timely.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, STORMSENS.AI LLC, ITS OWNERS, MEMBERS, MANAGERS, EMPLOYEES, SPONSORS, AND DATA PROVIDERS ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INJURY, DEATH, PROPERTY DAMAGE, OR OTHER LOSS ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR RELIANCE ON THIS APPLICATION.
This includes but is not limited to: missed alerts due to data delays or service outages, incorrect AI assessments, GPS inaccuracies, cellular or other network connectivity failures, API quota exhaustion, or any other technical limitation of the service.
YOUR USE OF THIS APP IS ENTIRELY AT YOUR OWN RISK. THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW.
In jurisdictions that do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitation of liability, our liability is limited to the greatest extent permitted by applicable law.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted access to Storm Sensei. The app may be unavailable due to scheduled maintenance, unplanned outages, third-party data provider failures, cellular network limitations, or other factors beyond our control. We are not liable for any loss or inconvenience caused by service interruptions, except where prohibited by applicable law.
Storm Sensei requires no account and no sign-up. We do not collect your name or email address, under any circumstance. We do not sell data. Ever.
The app stores only what's needed to deliver alerts to your device: a push notification subscription and your most recent location, both tied to your device, not to your identity. You can remove this at any time using the "Remove this device" option in the app.

Weather data, lightning detection, and radar imagery are provided by third parties including the National Weather Service, Vaisala Xweather, WeatherFlow, and Iowa State University's IEM NEXRAD archive. Availability and accuracy of this data is subject to those services' own limitations. StormSens.AI LLC is not responsible for the accuracy or availability of third-party data.
Safety assessments are generated by Claude, an AI model developed by Anthropic. AI-generated content may contain errors. AI-generated safety assessments are probabilistic and may not reflect rapidly changing conditions. Do not treat any AI-generated safety assessment as a definitive determination of safe conditions. Always use your own judgment.
Storm Sensei may be presented in partnership with a sponsor. Sponsors do not in any way control the safety assessments, alert thresholds, or data sources used by the app. Sponsor branding does not constitute an endorsement of safety conditions by the sponsor, and is display-only — sponsors have no access to user information, location data, or usage statistics, because Storm Sensei does not collect personal identifying information from any user.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless StormSens.AI LLC and its members, managers, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use or misuse of the app, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third party's rights.
Before filing any arbitration claim, you agree to give StormSens.AI LLC at least 30 days' written notice at support@stormsens.ai describing the dispute and the relief sought, and to attempt to resolve the dispute informally in good faith. Either party may bring an individual claim in small claims court as an alternative to arbitration, where eligible.
Please read this section carefully. It affects your legal rights.
Except for disputes that qualify for small claims court, any dispute, claim, or controversy between you and StormSens.AI LLC, including without limitation any purported claim against any sponsor, arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the app — whether based in contract, tort, statute, fraud, misrepresentation, or any other legal theory — will be resolved by final, binding individual arbitration rather than in court, except where prohibited by applicable law.
You and StormSens.AI LLC each waive the right to a jury trial and to participate as a plaintiff or class member in any class action, consolidated action, or representative proceeding.
The arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person's claims and may not preside over any form of representative or class proceeding, except where prohibited by applicable law.
Arbitration will be administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, as modified by these Terms. The AAA rules are available at www.adr.org. Arbitration will take place in New York, New York, or at a location mutually agreed upon by the parties. The arbitrator's decision will be binding and may be entered as a judgment in any court of competent jurisdiction.
The Federal Arbitration Act (9 U.S.C. § 1 et seq.) governs the interpretation and enforcement of this arbitration provision. This Section 15 shall survive termination of these Terms.
If the class action waiver is found unenforceable as to any particular claim, that claim may proceed in court but all other claims remain subject to arbitration.
Sponsors whose offers or benefits are made available through Storm Sensei are intended third-party beneficiaries of Section 7 (Limitation of Liability), this Section 15 (Binding Arbitration and Class Action Waiver), and Section 16 (Governing Law and Venue), solely with respect to any claim, dispute, or controversy that relates to or arises from a sponsor's offer, benefit, or involvement with the app. Sponsors are entitled to enforce these provisions as though they were a party to these Terms. Sponsors are not intended third-party beneficiaries of, and may not enforce, any other provision of these Terms.
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict of law principles, except where superseded by the Federal Arbitration Act. Any dispute not subject to arbitration under Section 15 will be heard exclusively in the state or federal courts located in New York County, New York. You consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, and the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and StormSens.AI LLC regarding your use of the app and supersede all prior agreements.
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the 'Last updated' date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If a change is material, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you — for example, by posting a notice in the app.
