Android: Let DANGER Alerts Reach You

Golf Beta

Why this matters

Storm Sensei's most severe tier — DANGER, meaning lightning is close enough that you should seek shelter now — is designed to break through Do Not Disturb, so you don't miss it because your phone was silenced. On Android, that only works if you separately grant Storm Sensei "Do Not Disturb access." Nothing else about the app needs this — WATCH and WARNING alerts are unaffected either way.

What This Permission Does

Android treats "Do Not Disturb access" as a single, all-or-nothing grant per app — there's no separate runtime prompt for it like there is for location or notifications. Once granted, Storm Sensei only uses it for the DANGER-tier lightning channel specifically. Every other notification from the app still respects Do Not Disturb normally.

How to Grant It

  1. Tap Open Do Not Disturb Settings above (or go to Settings → Notifications → Special app access → Do Not Disturb access on most Android versions).
  2. Find Storm Sensei in the list and turn it on.
  3. Return to the app — the status above will update.

What Happens If You Don't Grant It

The app still works normally, and DANGER alerts still arrive — they just won't break through if your phone happens to be in Do Not Disturb mode at that exact moment. We recommend granting it once before your first round and not thinking about it again.
